ABOUT US
The Koala Coast Music Club was formed in July 2007 by a bunch of people who like getting together to play music. All sorts of music. Whether it is sitting round and jamming together in a social atmosphere, or whether it is performing in competitions and festivals, or even entertaining as a group or as individuals at various concerts, clubs and other gigs - members can choose their own level of playing and singing.
Experienced musicians are available to back singers, tuition is available for those wanting to learn an instrument, and the club especially welcomes young people of all ages and encourages them to learn stagecraft, singing and instrumental techniques through the mentoring and support of our club.
FAQs
Who are you?
We are a bunch of people who like to play music together, to socialise, to have fun. We are aged between zero and 100. We play all sorts of instruments - guitar, piano, bass, drums, banjo, mandolin, harmonica. We sing - sometimes as a group, sometimes solo. Our members hail from a very wide range of abilities and experience: career professionals who have been entertaining for a living all their lives, accredited music teachers, self taught musos, award winning performers, songwriters, beginners, people who just like to sing, people who just like listening to live music and enjoying the camaraderie that comes from good company and a welcoming social setting.
What styles of music will I hear and play at Koala Coast Music Club?
All good music - country, folk, jazz, rock, country rock, blues, bluegrass. Our members like to sing and play Aussie bush ballads, up tempo country rock, soft folky ballads, American country standards, jazz and blues, banjo picking bluegrass, Aussie rock n roll standards, Australian modern and traditional country music.
Where are you located?
Our members live predominantly in the South Eastern suburbs of Brisbane, in Logan City and in the Redland Shire. We meet weekly on a Friday night at different venues to play music together. To check out when our next music jam is, please phone our President, John Dillon, on 0434 818 873.
Can anyone come along and check it out before joining?
Of course. To help you find your way on the first night, why not give our President, John Dillon a call first on 0434 818 873 . This will ensure that you are welcomed warmly, and introduced to everyone.
Do I have to play an instrument or sing to come along?
